John Shaffer, a member of the Bellwood-Antis School Board, is among the most recent group of Pennsylvania public school officials to receive the Pennsylvania School Board Association’s Advanced Boardmanship Award.
A pin signifying this achievement award is presented to individuals who obtain 72 credits in PSBA’s voluntary comprehensive training program, the School Board Academy. The Academy curriculum includes a variety of elective courses covering current educational, governance, legal and management issues.
“We commend John Shaffer, for investing personal time to dedicate himself to improving his skills and knowledge in the never-ending quest to become a better decision maker,” said G. Brian Toth, district superintendent. “By participating in the School Board Academy, John Shaffer has been able to stay current on school issues, and develop the skills necessary to strengthen the local policy-making team.”
The award was presented to Shaffer at the Oct. 7 board meeting.
