The technology keeps on improving in the Bellwood-Antis School District.
Over the last year, the district has added quite a few “big technology” systems at the school, including a data warehousing effort that allows administrators and parents to track the progress of student accomplishment, a fully computerized lunch counter system and advanced lighting and sound equipment that soon will be placed in the new auditorium project currently being mapped out.
Yesterday, the district got another “shot” of technology with the training of district teachers on the use of streaming video for integration into lessons.
This new technology will be brought to the district through a partnership with WPSX.
Darcy Gustafson will facilitate the training with support from Bellwood-Antis Technology Coordinator Mike Lingenfelter and all six of the Bellwood-Antis faculty computer coaches.
Prior to the training, Lingenfelter implemented a cutting edge approach for new Internet connectivity. This connectivity increases the district’s Internet capacity six fold.
The fiber connection was part of a long-term initiative to be able to connect and partner with other educational and state entities. As a result, the connection puts the district on par with many small universities.
“We are using our new band width increase to impact the learning experience of the students,” said Lingenfelter. “Lessons for students will be able to incorporate more multimedia learning and optimize the wealth of information to maximize learning time.”
