The fun and adventures of Boy Scouting begins with Cub Scouts, and local organizations are busy this week recruiting new members to share the experiences.
“Cub Scouting is the first step in becoming a Boy Scout and the experiences and fun that goes along with it is truly amazing,” said Pete Kreckel, scoutmaster of St. Matthew’s sponsored Boy Scout Troop 300.
“I would encourage any young man interested in having fun and learning a lot to get in touch with the local cub leader and get the ball rolling.”
There are four different cub packs in the Tyrone area. They include:
•Cub Pack 300 sponsored by St. Matthews. Contact person is Mark Rafetto at 84-5362;
•Cub Pack 320 sponsored by the Church of the Good Shepherd. Contact person is Ron Osborne at 684-2488;
•Cub Pack 103 sponsored by the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church. Contact people are Jeff Friday or Mike Yetten at 684-0760; and
•Cub Pack 104 sponsored by Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. Contact person is Don Grimm at 632-3861.
