There are a few updates for the Tyrone Area YMCA adult basketball league, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 17.
The league is still in need of referees, and the requirement is one referee per game.
Anyone interested in a referee position would receive $12 per game for the adult basketball league. Interested individuals need to have knowledge of basketball rules and fouls. Contact the YMCA at 684-2740 for more information.
Currently, there are five teams signed up, but there must be a minimum of six to have the league. Anyone wanting to enter into the league may register a three, four or five man team by contacting the YMCA.
Entry fees including the forfeit fees must be paid to the YMCA before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 by all teams. If the entry fee is not paid by this time, then the team will not be placed on the schedule.
The entry fee is $25 per team for members, and $35 for non-members, plus the $50 forfeit fee. This can all be paid at one time as a team’s entry fee.
League rules are available at the YMCA building. All teams are required to provide a score keeper each time they play. Each team must also have a captain. A mandatory captain’s meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The first series of games is tentatively scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17.
