Kimberly Dawn Ashby, 43, of 4104 Warriors Mark Path, Warriors Mark, Pa. died Friday, September 19, 2008 at her residence after a long battle with Melanoma.
Kim was born March 12, 1965 in Philipsburg, Pa. a daughter of Raymond and Marlene (Gallo) Middleton.
She was married October 29, 1988 to John S. Ashby who survives in Warriors Mark, along with daughters Samantha Mae Ashby and Kelly Raye Ashby.
She is also survived by parents Ray and Marlene Middleton of Philipsburg; sister Krista Middleton of State College; grandmother Leah Middleton of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Willard Middleton of Philipsburg; her maternal grandfather John Gallo.
The couple started their married life in Warriors Mark soon after marriage and after residences in Kratzierville, Pa., Columbus, Ohio, Chardon, Ohio, Sinking Springs, Pa., and Richmond, Va., they returned to Warriors Mark to be close to family and friends. Kim graduated from State College Area High School in 1983 and Cazenovia College in New York with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. Kim worked at Penn State at the Center for Childhood Obesity Research Lab. She enjoyed her work and all the people she worked with. Kim was an involved mother who always had time for her daughters’ activities as well as school work. She often traveled to see her daughters’ cheer and play soccer and enjoyed Tyrone High School football. She was a true blue Penn State fan and enjoyed tailgating with good friends. She loved antiques and old houses, and spent many hours decorating the family home in any newly found treasure. She helped her husband with his antique business for many years. She loved holidays and would have multiple trees throughout the house for Christmas, and her decorating would do justice in any holiday magazine. She lived life with zest and enjoyed family and friends.
She was an active member in the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church, as well as past president of Tyrone Girls Varsity Soccer Boosters. She was a blessing to her family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., 1200 Lincoln Ave., Tyrone, Pa. on Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The casket will be closed.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church, 1340 Centre Line Road, Warriors Mark with Rev. Peggy J. Bonsell officiating. Private interment will be at Grays Cemetery.
