About Him, the singing ministry of Bill and Judy Jones, is scheduled to perform a full concert at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church located on Adams Avenue in Tyrone on September 7, starting at 7 p.m.
The public is invited to attend, and a free will love offering will also be accepted.
Over the summer, the ministry of About Him has grown, and Bill and Judy Jones have traveled extensively to spread the music of God.
Besides the many local churches and other area locations, they have traveled as far as Cleveland, Cambridge and Buffalo singing Southern Gospel music to all who will listen.
Recently the couple opened for renowned gospel singer LeVerne Trip and his wife for a three-day revival service in Kenton, Ohio.
On September 6, Bill and Judy Jones are also scheduled to open for LeVerne Trip and his wife at the Keystone Country Festival at Lakemont Park.
Bill and Judy had to apply for the opening position and were fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the opening acts for Trip.
Another achievement for the couple is being invited to attend the Blue Mountain Gospel Singing Festival in Kempton, PA.
Bill Jones said he and his wife had been trying for three or four years to be selected for the festival, and they were contacted this year to sing at the event, which is one of the biggest on the east coast.
“Our God is good to us. We’ve had quite a ride this year,” said Jones. “We’ve gone to local churches all over the place.”
For example, extensive road trips to Ohio can last anywhere from eight to 16 days, and the couple travels by van and camper. Round-trip to Kenton, Ohio is 700 miles.
Jones said they go to these places because they are invited and because it is their mission to spread the word of God. It is not for pure entertainment, and the couple barely breaks even in money by the time the expenses for the equipment, gas and food are paid.
“As the ministry grows, so do we,” explained Jones of the reason he and his wife enjoy singing together.
Bill has been singing his whole life, but Judy didn’t start singing until about six years ago. Since then, the couple has been performing together in About Him Ministries at such places as City Hotel Park, Reservoir Park, local churches, Epworth Manor and the Blair Senior Center, among many other places in the area. The couple also travels to neighboring states to sing at churches and in revivals and festivals.
