The Heritage Quartet from Penn View Bible Institute, Penns Creek, is scheduled to present a concert of gospel music at the God’s Missionary Church, Route 22, Alexandria, on Sunday, August 24 at 6 p.m.
The Heritage Quartet offers a smooth sound of Southern gospel singing, along with accompaniment on the piano.
The members of the group include Jeff Stratton, Angelene Bubb, Beth McCoy, Kara Forney and Jaron Byler.
Penn View Bible Institute has been training musical groups for approximately 35 years to travel around the United States as a ministry. The school currently has three groups that travel around the country performing concerts for churches.
Every fall, students try out for the singing groups at Penn View Bible Institute and are chosen based on their singing talents as well as are matched with other voices that blend well together.
According to the public relations offices at Penn View Bible Institute, nearly 40 students try out every year, and only a few can be chosen to represent the college in the three groups.
Those chosen sign a contract for a year to travel the country performing concerts. Besides coming to Alexandria tomorrow, the Heritage Quartet has traveled as far as Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Kansas to sing at churches and spread joy through their music.
When the tour is finished, the Heritage Quartet will have performed approximately 150 concerts in a year, a large feat for college students who still need to simultaneously complete all of their academic work at Penn View Bible Institute.
Besides spreading music, Heritage Quartet provides a way for student recruitment to the college and financial aid to the school as well.
Penn View Bible Institute is a full-time Bible college, with approximately 115 students currently enrolled. The Institute trains Christians for effective ministry through servanthood.
Penn View’s graduates are in demand across the United States and around the world. The Institute offers majors such as elementary and secondary education, ministerial, nursing, music, biblical studies and more.
