Today, The Daily Herald announced that Sue Busche of Tyrone was the winner of editor Kerry Webster’s local story contest.
During the month of July, Webster challenged our readers to count both local stories and photos that appeared in the paper from July 1st to July 31st.
The person who filed out the form, mailed it in, and guessed the closet would win $50 in cash.
Sue Busche guessed that a combined 363 stories and photos would appear in our pages.
She was only 38 off the actual count.
After reviewing all of our local byline stories featuring news from Tyrone, Bellwood, Antis Township, Snyder Township, Tyrone Township and other surrounding communities, the count came in as follows: 159 nine local stories were written and published and 245 different local photos were also featured during the month.
The combined total was 404, making Busche the winner of the contest.
How did we fare against our competition during the same time frame? It wrote 40 local stories and published only 12 locally-based photographs.
The Daily Herald wants to thank everyone who participated in the contest. Look forward to more news from your source in Northern Blair County.
