Blair Senior Services has scheduled its annual SeniorFest picnic to be held at Lakemont Park on Friday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is open to anyone 60 years of age or older, and Blair Senior Services invites all area older adults to join in the fun. The picnic is the organization’s way of saying “thank you” to all of the seniors who reside in Blair County.
Last year, more than 600 people attended SeniorFest. According to Site Manager at Tyrone Senior Center Linda Bowers, 30 – 40 people have already signed up for the picnic just at the Tyrone Senior Center alone.
A $2.50 donation for the meal ticket is requested, and tickets can be picked up at any Senior Center. Tickets must be purchased by Friday, July 25.
The menu for the day includes barbecued chicken, side dishes of baked beans and antipasta salad, and all day soda service. Lunch is scheduled to be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the pavilions at Lakemont Park.
At 10 a.m. carnival games in pavilion 12 start the festivities. Other activities include bingo, a country store, door prizes, entertainment and dancing throughout the day.
Bowers said the day is fun for everyone who attends, and the participants most enjoy the entertainment and dancing, games, and especially the bingo.
In Pavilion 9, an array of performances will be featured. Dan and Gala will perform a selection of songs, and Blair Senior Service Center’s “Top of the Line Dancers” will demonstrate line dancing. After lunch, Rich Hagens will play music for dancing.
Transportation to the event is available, and arrangements must be made by Friday, July 25. To arrange for transportation, call 695-3500 or 1-800-458-5552.
