At yesterday’s meeting, the supervisors of Snyder Township approved the application for CDBG grant funding for the Ironville, Tyrone Forge and Cook Hollow sewer project.
The application, that will be delivered to Harrisburg sometime today, is to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for Community Block Grant funding assistance for approximately $500,000. The purpose of the grant is to complete a sewage collection system in the areas of Ironville, Tyrone Forge and Cook Hollow.
In other business, it was approved to pay Cornerstone Builders & Supply Inc. the final ten percent payment, in the amount of $2,070 for the final work done on a home in the township from the Home Rehab Grant money.
This is the last of the grant money from the state that is available from the Home Project, which is available funding for homes in the township that are not up to the building codes. The first project of its kind, the EADS Group recently received a second grant for another Home Project to be carried out.
Interviews have been completed for income eligible homeowners, and for the second round of grant money, those eligible will get to choose from a list of contractors provided by the township to give estimates for home repair.
Many issues were brought up during the public comment portion of the meeting. The first was that many residents of Gypsy Camp Hollow Road have to deal with large amounts of dust blowing off of the road when cars or four-wheelers drive by. Those concerned said the dust settles on their cars and houses, making it difficult to keep them clean at all times. Supervisors are going to see what they can do to move the oil date for the road from the second week of June to an earlier time if possible.
Also, residents discussed the possibility of an ordinance for all new businesses to have to register with the township 90 days before opening. Solicitor Allen Gibboney has said at previous meetings that such an ordinance would be unlawful. However, other possibilities will be discussed at the next meeting.
A change in the calendar, the regular meeting for June 2 at 7 p.m. has been changed to June 4 at 7 p.m.
