Fatal crash
5/4 — State Police in Huntingdon responded to a one-vehicle accident on SR 3037 in Walker Township, Huntingdon County yesterday at 4:25 p.m.
The operator, Thomas John Dixon, 40, of Huntingdon failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, struck a guide rail post and was ejected from the 1987 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH1100 and landed on another guide rail post. He was pronounced dead at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Room. Huntingdon County Deputy Coroner Ron Morder ruled the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the chest/abdomen.

Stolen Property
5/4 — State Police in Hollidaysburg responded to a call on South 4th Street in Grazierville. Charles Sprankle reported that someone removed a padlock from the door to a trailer parked to the rear of the his garage. The actor(s) removed from the trailer a Coleman heater, Coleman stove and a pair of jumper cables. Estimated loss is $135. The investigation continues.

Hit and run
5/3 — State Police in Hollidaysburg responded to an accident at 5:03 a.m. Saturday morning on Skelp Mountain Road in Antis Township. Police report that Ronald Shoenberger, 46, of RD 1 Tyrone was driving north on Skelp Mountain Road when he fell asleep while driving. The 1999 Pontiac went off the road, hit a ditch and rolled over coming to rest on its side. The operator fled the scene and was cited for carless driving and failure to give immediate notice of the accident as required.

Vehicle Theft
5/3 — State Police in Philipsburg responded to a theft of the 1991 GMC Blazer owned by Randy Litz of Philipsburg. Three teenagers removed the victim’s vehicle from his residence without his knowledge. The suspects were involved in an accident with the vehicle. The vehicle was abandoned along Cassanova Road in Rush Township. The investigation continues.

Stolen Motorcycle
5/3 — State Police in Huntingdon responded to a one vehicle accident on Sportsmen Club Road in Cass Township. Fred McCabe, 49 of Cassville was travelling south along Sportsmen Club Road, lost control of a 2002 Harley Davidson and left the roadway. McCabe is being treated at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital for severe injuries. The motorcycle was reported stolen by Huntingdon Borough Police.

Bucket Truck accident
5/2 — A three truck accident occurred on Route 453 just south or Route 550 in Snyder Township on Friday afternoon. Trucks operated by George Stott of Sandy Ridge and David Metz Sr. of Petersburg were stopped on SR 453 due to blasting being done by New Enterprise Stone and Lime. A truck driven by Randy Fornari of Altoona was unable to stop before hitting the rear of the truck driven by Stott which pushed that vehicle into the truck driven by Metz. Fornari’s truck was totaled, Stott and Metz’s vehicles escaped with minor damage.

Found property
5/2 — State Police in Hollidaysburg report that they found a 1992 Suzuki ATV red in color with a blue seat and gas tank one-tenth of a mile east of State Route 220 at the Blair/Centre County line in Snyder Township. Any person having lost or had an ATV stolen that fits this description should contact PSP Hollidaysburg at 696-6100.

Weed Eater stolen
5/2 — Sometime between April 23 and May 2, an unknown actor pried open the door of the shed owned by John R. Soellner of Tyrone. Once inside the shed, they stole a 1992 Weed Eater, green in color, with an 18 inch cut. Value of the weed eater is $100.

Scattering rubbish
5/2 — Paul Emigh, 22 of Tyrone was observed throwing a beer bottle from a vehicle in which he was a passenger. Charges of scattering rubbish were filed at District Justice Dan Davis’ office. The violation carries a fine of between $50 and $300.

Stolen tools
5/1 — State Police in Hollidaysburg are investigating the theft of tools from a vehicle owned by Dennis Messner of Tyrone. Unknown actor(s) entered the back of the victim’s work truck along Bel-Tip Road in Antis Township ad removed over $4,000 worth of tools. The investigation continues.
