Minor injury reported
3/13 – State police in Hollidaysburg report an accident occurred along state Route 1013 in Tyrone Township at 6:55 p.m.
Police said Joy Gioiosa of Altoona left the roadway to the right while negotiating a turn to the left.
Minor injuries were reported.
E-mailed threats
3/20 – State police in Huntingdon received a report from a 16-year-old Warriors Mark girl stating she received threatening e-mails from an unknown person.
Stolen swing arms
3/20 – Hollidaysburg-based state police report approximately 60 aluminum motorcycle swing arms were stolen from Brush Mountain Cycles and ATVs along Old Route 220 in Bellwood. Police value the loss at $6,000.
Single-vehicle accident
3/20 – No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle accident that occurred along Interstate 99 in Snyder Township at 3 p.m.
Police said Teresa Longstreth of Osceola Mills was southbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the wet roadway and struck a guiderail.
No injuries reported
3/21 – State police in Hollidaysburg were summoned to SR 1013 near the Altoona Reservoir in Tyrone Township at 1:51 p.m. to investigate an accident.
Police said Wesley M. Pfiester of Altoona was eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle while speeding into a corner. Police said the vehicle slid off the roadway, and when Pfiester attempted to regain control, the vehicle slid sideways and struck a tree stump. The vehicle flipped onto its side and struck a large tree.
No injuries were reported.
Single-vehicle accident
3/23 – State police in Hollidaysburg were called to SR 4019 in Antis Township at 2:12 a.m. to investigate an accident.
Police said Douglas Anthony Lawrence of Altoona was northbound when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle crossed the south lane of the highway and struck a telephone pole with its left side. After impact with the pole, the vehicle continued to travel across SR 4019 before coming to rest in a yard.
Police were assisted at the scene by Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Co.
Lawrence was transported to Altoona Hospital by Bellwood Ambulance.
Nature’s revenge
3/23 – State police in Hollidaysburg report Alan Mills of Tyrone was eastbound on Becker Road in Antis Township when a deer “intent on causing motoring mayhem,” leaped out in the path of the driver.
Police said in an attempt to avoid striking “the renegade animal,” Mills swerved, but struck a tree.
Police said the deer escaped and is being sought for questioning. Mills was not injured.
