Good afternoon, and I hope you are having a good Tuesday.
We have just completed a very successful weekend.
Six Tyrone and two Bellwood-Antis wrestlers qualified for the Southwest Regional Wrestling Tournament this weekend at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
Good luck to Thad Westley, Brett Harris, Dave Miller, Brice Mertiff, Robert Waite, Terry Tate, Will Edwards and Jared Ervine as they take to the mat this weekend with hopes of qualifying for the state championships.
The Golden Eagle wrestling team placed third overall at the district tournament – the highest finish for a Tyrone squad in years. It is a credit to coach Blair Packer and his staff for the teams’ accomplishment. Good luck to everyone at regionals.
I spend my fair share of time hammering people who are elected to represent the community. There are things that I don’t agree with, but you have to give them respect for giving up the time to serve their local communities. You know my motto: “Don’t complain if you don’t participate.”
It sounds like people are starting to participate.
Congratulations to our general manager Chris Lash, who started his radio station in Indiana this past weekend.
There is a place and time for everything. The Tyrone football banquet isn’t the place or time to be asked to sign political petitions. The banquet is to celebrate the season that has passed, not to be asked to sign a petition for a district justice.
I love it when someone says that if they want the news of Tyrone, they read the competition.
That, my friends, is a joke. Since I have been the editor, I have had the competition’s reporter sit beside me at one borough council meeting and one school board meeting. That leaves 15 meetings where I am sitting next to an empty seat.
Our staff of G. Kerry Webster, Christina Pryor and Bob Miller work very hard to bring you stories that are important to Northern Blair County. We are at the meetings. We are talking to the decision makers. We climb roofs in the snow to take pictures of kids screaming Hoodie Hoo to scare away winter. We may not be the biggest paper in the area, but I will put our content against anyone on any day.
If there is anything, there needs to be a cure for it is migrane headaches. There is nothing more painful and you never feel more worthless if you have one. Please, if any medical research people are reading, find a cure soon. I know Christina and I would be very happy.
Next Monday, Bellwood and Tyrone borough councils will hold their meetings. I look forward to seeing more people each week as we get closer to the election.
Enjoy your Tuesday and we’ll talk next week.
