Attorney Suzanne Bigelow-Cherry announced that she is seeking the election for the office of district justice of Magisterial District 24-3-01 which covers Northern Blair County.
Cherry is a graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh in 1990 with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Political Science.
She received her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 1993. She was admitted into the practice of law by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in January of 1994. She is also admitted to practice of law before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Attorney Bigelow-Cherry has argued several cases before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
She is court-appointed by the Blair County Court of Common Pleas to serve as an arbitrator on the arbitration panel, which hears civilcases including appeals from District Justice rulings in civil matters. She currently serves as court-appointed counsel for parents in children and youth proceedings, court-appointed counsel in guardianship proceedings and formerly was court-appointed to serve as guardian ad litem for children in custody cases.
Attorney Bigelow-Cherry currently has a law practice located at 2006 Bellemeade Drive, Altoona. Her practice included civil litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury, divorce, custody, support, adoptions, protections from abuse, criminal law, estates, wills, powers of attorney and real estate.
Attorney Bigelow-Cherry and her husband Michael are lifelong residents of Northern Blair County and currently reside in Tyrone Township with their two children.
