Tyrone Hospital has engaged Pyramid Healthcare to manage its outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. Pyramid will offer intensive outpatient group and individual counseling to people who are suffering from an addiction to drugs and alcohol.
The Tyrone Hospital has operated this outpatient service since 1985 serving the residents of Northern Blair and surrounding communities. Tyrone Hospital Chief Executive Officer Tommy Bartlett believes that Pyramid will be able to expand the program to serve a greater number of people.
?We have been quite successful over the years treating people for chemical dependency,? said Bartlett. ?We believed it was time to further enhance this program, so we have teamed up with Pyramid as the program manager for this service. Pyramid has the staffing, the experience and the professionalism we were looking for.?
Working with Tyrone Hospital will allow Pyramid Healthcare to further integrate a complete drug and alcohol services for Central Pennsylvania residents, which includes detoxification and rehabilitation services in Altoona, Philipsburg and State College.
?With the problems we are seeing in Blair County related to drug and alcohol addiction, we believe that these expanded services at Tyrone Hospital are very much needed,? said Jonathan Wolfe, Pyramid Healthcare CEO. ?We will work closely with the staff there to get people into treatment and help them get their lives back on track. Tyrone Hospital is an excellent healthcare facility. We are pleased to be able to work collaboratively with them.?
Pyramid Healthcare will have a full-time counselor at the Tyrone Hospital facility.
?We will be at the Tyrone Hospital,? said Andrea Shope, director of media relations for Pyramid Healthcare. ?We believe that with our additional resources we will be able to get the word out that there is help available. This will also help us with aftercare for Tyrone residents who go through residential treatment.?
Pyramid Healthcare offers specialized inpatient and outpatient treatment services for adults and adolescents for the treatment of drug and alcohol, mental health and behavorial problems. The company has facilities in Altoona, Bald Eagle, Blandburg, Clearfield, Pittsburgh, Wilkensburg, Gibsonia, and State College.
The Tyrone Hospital is a 59-bed general medical and surgical facility licensed by the State of Pennsylvania and accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare facilities. Recently the Tyrone Hospital was named one of the top100 hospitals in the nation based on an annual study by Solucient, a leading healthcare data company.
According to Bartlett, the hospital staff and employees of Pyramid are currently making the transition.
?Pyramid brings a broad range of experience, depth and professional resources to the service,? said Bartlett. ?They are well know in the region. We thought it was a good match for the hospital?s needs.?
Bartlett said there are numerous advantages to the new system.
?(It) allows Tyrone Hospital to continue to provide the outpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation services,? he said. ?Pyramid provides professional staff. management services and will do the marketing for these specialized services.?
