The Tyrone Area School Board of Directors met last evening for purposes of reorganization.
James Stover was re-elected as the board’s president and James Crawford was again re-elected as the board vice-president.
“I’d just like to take the time now to thank this board for all they have done,” said Stover. “We have a good group of people in here that are dedicated to this district. Thank you.”
Dr. Bill Miller, superintendent, said all committees will contain the same board members as in 2002; however, noted that any member continues to have the option of switching committees or becoming involved in one of the others.

•Selected Luther Laird as legislative chairperson. Laird served in the position during 2002.
The legislative chairperson is responsible for representing their school board at the county legislative action meetings where discussions with legislators are held, key issues affecting school boards and education are discussed, and county legislative priorities are selected. In addition, the legislative chairperson receives special legislative publications from PSEA.
•appointed James Crawford as PSBA representative. Crawford served in this position in 2002.
The program was initiated in 1996 to more directly involve every member school entity in the work of the state association. Representatives will be the direct link to the association, serving as a member of the regional director’s cabinet. He will receive special updates on PSBA activities, provide suggestions for programs, publications and advocacy activities, assist in planning regional meetings and, generally, serve as a direct link to the state organization.
•Elected Cindy Whitby as Employee Relations Contact. She served in this position in 2002.
This position creates an opportunity for dialogue between local school directors and PSBA on the many issues facing boards in their role as an employer. Information, ideas and needs will be solicited from and disseminated through this contact person, in addition to announcements of inservice opportunities.
•Elected Whitby as Technology Committee, as required by the state. No details were available.
