District Magistrate Fred Miller disposed of seven preliminary criminal cases at his office in Tyrone on Tuesday.
Francis C. Campbell, 42, of Tyrone waived a hearing on two counts of simple assault and single charges of harassment and disorderly conduct.
According to police, the charges stem from a domestic situation involving Campbell’s wife at the couple’s Lincoln Avenue residence on Oct. 10. Police said Campbell struck the woman in the mouth, choked her and kicked her.
Michael Schaul, 29, of Tyrone waived a hearing on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, kidnapping and unlawful restraint.
Police said Mr. Schaul and a woman was driving along Reservoir Drive in Tyrone on Oct. 15 when the woman decided not to continue with Mr. Schaul in his vehicle because he was drinking. Police said the woman exited the car, but was then grabbed by the hair by Schaul, who threw her back inside the car.
According to police, Schaul then punched the woman numerous times in the head. Police noted that a three-inch patch of hair was torn from the woman’s head.
Mark Eugene Kuhn, 38, of Blandburg waived six counts each of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property into court.
Police said Kuhn unlawfully entered numerous locations in Tyrone, Altoona, Ramey and Blandberg between March 2 and May 13 with the intent of depriving owners of property.
Police said the value of items stolen, which included 15 guns, four cameras, tools and an undisclosed amount of cash, exceeded $10,000.
Police learned of the theft after discovering that Kuhn signed his name and showed his identification when selling some of the stolen goods at an Altoona pawn shop.
William A. Orsino, 41, of Tyrone had two counts of recklessly endangering another person and single charges of simple assault, harassment and domestic violence held to court following a hearing. Magistrate Miller dismissed two charges of disorderly conduct and a single charge of terroristic threats.
Police said Orsino was arrested on the charges after he attempted to strike his wife and another man with his vehicle outside the Andrea School of Dance in Bellwood on Oct. 8. Police said at one point, he grabbed his wife by the throat and threatened to take the couple’s child.
David Fred Ross, 34, of Tyrone waived a hearing on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
Police said the charges stem from an incident that occurred at an RD Tyrone residence on Oct. 25. Police said Ross kicked a woman, causing her to fall off a porch and strike the back of her head. Police said Ross then carried the woman inside and continued to assault her by punching her in the face. The woman received 12 stitches because of the incident.
Leslie Norman Manis, 25, of Tyrone waived a hearing on two counts of simple assault and single charges of harassment, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of children.
Police said Manis hit a woman’s head off a wall in the presence of a young child while at an apartment at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 12 Street in Tyrone on Oct. 25.
Jenny Lee Poullos, 39, of Tyrone waived a hearing on charges of driving under the influence, careless driving and disregarding a traffic lane.
Police said Poullos’ blood alcohol content equaled .225 percent following a routine traffic stop in the area of West 14th Street and Logan Avenue in Tyrone on Sept. 25.
Nathaniel Gordon Lundy of 814 First Ave., Tyrone waived a hearing on charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
According to police, a woman hosting a party at a residence along state Route 1013 in Tyrone Township on May 11 reported that her purse was stolen. The purse was eventually located, but was missing contents, including six credit cards.
While incarcerated at Blair County Prison, Lundy admitted to being in possession of the credit cards, but claimed the woman dropped her purse while riding all-terrain vehicles and he picked it up with the intention of giving it back to her.
