Ever wonder where you can buy a pair of shoes in Tyrone for less than a $20 bill? How about an American flag bandana for less than you’d pay for a value meal at Burger King?
If so, check out G.E.S. Clothing and Novelty Shop. It’s located at 34 W. Tenth Street next to Gardners’ Candies.
The newest addition to Tyrone’s growing business community is owned and operated by Bellwood’s Frank and Ruth Brown.
“We’re not going to get rich doing this and that’s not really our intention,” said Frank Brown. “But I think this town needs more things like this to build it up. The potential is here…we just need the people to make it happen.”
According to Brown, the store features loads of new items, including clothing, shoes, toys, jewelry and Avon products. He said seasonal items will be arriving soon and stock will be ever changing.
“I just want to supply the people of Tyrone with their needs,” he said. “I think that’s exactly what we’re offering.”
Frank is no stranger to business. He said he has worked in a grocery store and also owned a clothing store in Huntingdon. Most recently, he spent the last four-and-a-half years at Historica Plus in Clearfield.
“I enjoy working retail business,” he said. “It’s really the people that make my job enjoyable. I like talking and interacting with everyone who walks through those doors.”
According to Brown, a store Grand Opening will be held either later this month or early in November.
The store is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.
