Micah Dillen opened the George B. Kelley Federation baseball game at Tyrone’s Harry K. Sickler Athletic Park with a triple for Sheetz, on Monday evening. Tyrone Legion pitcher Jamie Levinson promptly stranded Dillen at third, combining with Mike Romano for a one-hit, 7-1 victory over Sheetz, to improve their record to 8-9, with five regular season ganes remaining before playoffs begin on July 13.
Sheetz scored their only tally of the game to open the scoring in the top of the second inning, but Levinson, who pitched five strong innings and Mike Romano, who went the final two frames, kept Sheetz from any further damage. Levinson struck out three and walked three, while Romano fanned six and walked five.
Tyrone Legion took the lead for good in the bottom of the second, with a Tom Sims two-run bases-loaded single the big blow. Levinson added a two-run single later in the game to add some insurance.
Levinson and Romano both had a pair of base hits, and Dave Rodland and Randy Hoover each drove in a run to back up the fine pitching for Tyrone Legion.
Tyrone Legion continues their long eight games-in-eight days stretch tonight with a game against Juniata VFW, at the Juniata field at 6 p.m. The Legion then plays ReMax Realty on Wednesday at home, before finally getting a break, not scheduled again until a July 3 ballgame at home against Park Furniture.
