Forty-four Tyrone residents gave the gift of life yesterday at the Tyrone Elks Club helping the emergency blood drive succeed its goal by seven pints. The Greater Allegheny Region Blood Services are thanking all the donors today and salute the goodwill of Lamoine Zimmerman, the members of the Tyrone Elks Lodge #212 and additional volunteers who include Alice Ewing, Marybelle Mattern, Esther Ewing and Frances Hunter. Blood services reported this morning, out of the forty-four donors that came into give blood, three gave for the very first time. A total of thirty-seven pints were collected for use by patients who need a chance at renewed, good health.
The next scheduled blood drive for Tyrone will be held Wednesday, August 7th, from noon until 6 pm in Harkins Hall, St. Matthew’s Church. The blood drive will be sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
