Liquor Law violation
On February 24 and April 6, 2008, K&M Bar, Inc. of 423 Main Street, Bellwood, sold, furnished and/or gave or permitted sale, furnishing or giving of alcoholic beverages to one visibly intoxicated male patron and one visibly intoxicated female patron. These charges will be brought before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the ALJ can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought. The ALJ can also mandate training for the license in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.

Burglary
State police reported that on April 15 a burglary occurred at the Camp Anderson Boy Scout Camp located along VanScoyc Hollow Road in Snyder Twp. Property stolen included miscellaneous portable tools and 2,000 feet of aluminum wire, all valued at approximately $2,919.91. On April 15, James D. Gardner, 18, Tyrone, was allegedly observed loading the above stolen wire into his vehicle at his residence. Jessica N. Wertz, 29, Tyrone, was reportedly with Gardner. A traffic stop was conducted and both Gardner and Wertz were taken into custody. Wertz was housed in the Blair County Prison on three active bench warrants. Gardner was taken before District Magistrate Aigner and bail was set at $50,000 unsecured. At this time, the investigation continues.

Theft by deception
On April 29, state police reported that unknown actor(s) sent a “secret shopping” research document to Janet M. Benfield of Bellwood, along with a check for $4,870. Benfield cashed the check and was asked to send money back to the company “Great Insights.” This was a scam to obtain money from the victim, Benfield.

Harassment
State police reported on May 9 that a 17-year-old known male juvenile at Greentree Village in Snyder Twp. struck a known male adult staff member in the head with a closed fist. The assault did not cause injury to the victim. The incident is being handled with the PA State Police Department.

Theft/Criminal Mischief
On May 11, state police reported that Brady Alan Hoover of Tyrone discovered his employer’s vehicle, Conway Truckload of Joplin, MO, had been vandalized along SR 4027 in Snyder Twp. The left cab window was broken out and some of his belongings valued at approximately $670 were stolen.

Access Device Fraud
State police reported that Brenda Gherrity of Tyrone said that someone accessed her debit card and stole $210 via an ATM machine. The investigation is continuing.
