The points have been tallied and the International Sled Dog Racing Association announced the 2007-08 medal winners.
Tyrone area resident Johnn Molburg was named the ISDRA silver medal winner in the adult skijoring three-dog speed class of international competitions. This is Molburg’s seventh ISDRA medal.
On February 3, Molburg was in Land O Lakes, Wisconsin, participating in the Three Bear Winter Race where he came out on top in the Adult Three-Dog Speed Class Skijoring race, finishing the nine mile course with a total time of 00:30:38 and garnering 124.25 points towards his total.
Then on February 10, Molburg once again took first place in the Adult Three-Dog Speed Class Skijoring race, this time at the Medford Mush, in Medford, Wisconsin. His total time for the eight mile course was 00:22:20. This added another 86.45 points to his season total.
In Merrill, Wisconsin, on February 17, Molburg participated in the Pine River Run. With a total time of 00:29:26 he finished the nine mile course, taking second in the Adult Three-Dog Speed Class Skijoring race and gaining an additional 100.92 points.
Finally, Molburg traveled to Lorraine, New York on February 24 to participate in the Mannsville Quest Dog Derby where he placed first in the Adult Three-Dog Speed Class Skijoring, finishing the five mile course with a time of 00:15:08 and adding 43.20 points to his total.
Molburg finished the season with a total point accumulation of 354.82, to earn the silver medal.
This year’s first place winner was Jenna Dittmar of Wisconsin with 374.59 points and third place went to Melissa Behm of Wisconsin with a final total of 329.25 points.
Last year, Molburg beat out both Dittmar and Behm, who placed second and third respectively, to earn top honors.
Molburg previously earned a gold medal finishes in the adult skijoring three-dog speed class in 2001, 2002 and 2007. He won the bronze medal in 2006.
He also was a repeat medal winner in the adult skijoring two-dog speed class, taking first place honors in 2002 and bringing home the bronze medal in 2003.
This season Molburg also competed in the adult bikejoring men’s one-dog speed class, the adult rig four-dog speed class, adult scooter two-dog speed class, adult skijoring two-dog speed class, adult sled four-dog speed class the adult sled six-dog speed class.
According to his profile with the International Sled Dog Racing Association, Molburg has been racing sled dogs since 1957. He has received many national and international awards and medals throughout his career.

The ISDRA was formed in 1966 by Canadian and American mushers to organize and unify the sport of sled dog racing. Today, ISDRA annually represents over 100 days of sled dog racing and thousands of individual race performances. Competitions are held for adult and junior divisions and team sizes range from unlimited to one-dog. Racing action begins in mid-October and ends in late March with multiple ISDRA sanctioned events occurring on any given weekend during January and February. Annual membership averages 850 with 55 to 75 sanctioned events.
