It’s that time of year again when everyone begins to look forward to the opening game of football season.
While it’s still summer vacation for school students, the opening match-up between Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis is just around the corner.
The younger kids in the area are also looking forward to their own season. Those who have yet to sign up, still have a chance to participate in Pee Wee and Youth football this season.
Final registration for the 2008 youth football season will be held next Tuesday and Wednesday, July 15 and 16 at the Joshua House, located on 10th Street in Tyrone from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The registration fee is $30. For families with two children, the fee is $40. This must be paid at the time of registration.
There are several registration requirements to keep in mind.
For Pee Wee football players:
• Must be seven years old as of 9/1/2008;
• May not be 10 years old as of 9/1/2008 and
• Must weigh less than 130 pounds. at tryouts, which will be held in August.
Players who weigh over 130 pounds may elect to play youth football.
Registration requirements for youth football are as follows:
• May not be 14 as of 9/1/2008 or entering the 8th grade.
There is no weight limit for youth football.
Due to insurance purposes, there will be absolutely no exceptions to these requirements.
