Glenn W. Fields, 74, of 2635 Pennington Road, Tyrone, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Hospital Campus following a brief illness. He was born January 16, 1934 in Three Springs, the son of the late George Russell Fields and Viola Jane (McClain) Fields. He was married twice: to Matilda Miller (Ditty) and then on November 7, 1964, he married Bernice A. (Dixon) Gardner.
Surviving are his wife; three sons: Dennis A. Fields (Theresa) of Warriors Mark, Brian E. Gardner (Mary) of RD 3 Tyrone, and David L. Gardner (Vanessa) of Vail; four grandchildren: Jennifer Vance, Kimberly Gardner, DeNeige Gardner, and J.D. Gardner; three great-grandchildren: Carrie, Ryan, and Eliza Vance; two step-grandchildren: Debra and James Weaver; one brother: Raymond of Three Springs; two sisters: Violet Haun of Altamonte, FL, Mary Cornell of Everett; one sister-in-law: Dorothy Fields of Three Springs; and special friends Wayne and Donna Runk of Mount Union.
He was preceded in death by a sister Elsie Clippinger and brother Jesse Fields.
Mr. Fields enjoyed singing and playing Blue Grass music with the Blue Grass Partners. He also enjoyed gardening and working in the woods. He was a life-long truck driver driving for Youngstown Cartage, Butler Trucking, and Wal Mart Trans. of Woodland, retiring on February 1, 2001.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home, Warriors Mark, and 10 to the 11 a.m. service Friday at Warriors Mark United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at Burket Cemetery in Warriors Mark.
Officiating will be Pastor Donna Vaux and brother Gerry Gardner.
