A local tradition continues as First Assembly of God, 12th Street and Blair Avenue, has scheduled its annual “Light the Night” celebration on October 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The event corresponds with “Trick-or-Treat” night in Tyrone.
First Assembly has been a participant in the “Light the Night” program since its inception.
“In our troubling times, ‘Light the Night’ has become an environmentally safe alternative to trick or treating. It is a well lit and well supervised place for children and parents to visit,” said Pastor Glunt in a press release to The Daily Herald.
At the event, there will be games, prizes, face painting, puppet shows and “Handi” the Clown with his balloon art.
There will also be hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, and of course candy for the trick-or-treaters. Everyone is invited, and moms and dads are urged to visit with their children and to enjoy a hot dog or a beverage.
There is no charge; everything is free, provided by the members of First Assembly of God.
“It’s our way of blessing the community where we are privileged to meet and worship,” Pastor Glunt remarked.
“Light the Night” will be held in the church’s parking lot behind Burger King. In case of very inclement weather, “Light the Night” will be held in the church fellowship hall.
Pastor Glunt said that hundreds of people stop by every year, and he hopes everyone will stop by and say “hello” this year. He loves to run the popcorn machine, so everyone can always find him there!
