The Tyrone Lady Eagles finished their season on a losing note at the hands of the playoff bound Marion Center Lady Stingers on the road on Monday evening.
The Lady Eagles hung with the Lady Stingers for one quarter and only trailed by one point 11-10.
Unfortunately that would be as close as it got as they got. The Marion Center girls pressured the ball and forced Tyrone into numerous turnovers, converting fast break layups to extend the lead to 10 by the end of the first half.
Tyrone came out in the second half a little more focus as Liz Tepsic and Rachel Emigh tried to control the tempo, combining for eight of the 11 third quarter points, highlighted by Tepsic\’s three-pointer from the corner to cut into the Lady Stingers lead.
Tyrone got to within seven but Heather Abbey hit a trey of her own and the lead was again at 10 going to the fourth.
It was all Marion Center from there as the lead swelled to 16 with 3:36 to go, and the frustrations of the season showed as Coach Luke Rhoades was assessed a technical foul.
Kassie Faretta tossed in nine points and Emigh chipped in six to go along with Tepsic’s game-high 14 to put a cap on the Lady Eagles season.
Tyrone finishes at 8-16 ending Liz Tepsic’s and Megan Turiano’s high school careers. The pair are the only seniors on the team, and the experience gained by the girls who will be back next year should prove invaluable for coach Rhoades, who completes his first year as coach of the Tyrone girls, and the Lady Eagles.
Tyrone\’s junior varsity team also lost by a 55-10 score.
Crystal Waite led Tyrone with seven points.
