Blair Senior Services, Inc., will host a driver safety class on Saturday, January 20 for adults age 50 and older.
This one-day class, provided by the AARP Driver Safety Program, will be held at the Blair Senior Service Center, 1320 12th Avenue, Altoona, beginning at 8 a.m.
The AARP Driver Safety Program has helped millions of drivers remain safe on today’s roads and save money on insurance premiums. The classroom curriculum includes information on some adjustments to common age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time, and about how to operate a vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment.
Individuals age 55 and older who complete the eight-hour course are eligible for a state-mandated five percent discount on their automobile insurance policy. In the event there are two or more individuals age 55 or older on an insurance policy, both/all must complete the course to be eligible for the discount. Questions concerning insurance discounts should be directed to the individual’s insurance agent.
A $10 fee per participant is required to cover the cost of materials for the driver safety class. Checks or money orders should be made payable to AARP. Class size is limited. All participants must pre-register and pay in advance to assure a seat.
