When Tyrone and Bellwood get together in any sport, no matter what the records are it always is a tough battle. That was evident in yesterday\\\’s Junior High girls basketball game at Tyrone.
Bri Harpster put the Lady Eagles on the board first and led 3-0 after one quarter while playing a tough man to man defense but Bellwood netted two field goals to take an uncharacteristically low scoring 4-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Tyrone came out in the third period with patience and worked the ball into the post as Mara Hawes and Casey Baird scored to take the lead for good.
Amanda Grannas kept Bellwood in it till the very end as the Lady Eagles stifling defense won out and Tyrone won 16-14. Grannas led all scorers with six points and Hawes led Tyrone with five.
Eagle Bits: Olivia Stever played her first game in three weeks. Tyrone is 4-12 and will play BEA Tuesday at home.
Tyrone\\\’s \\\”B\\\” team prevailed in a tough 16-12 win as the Lady Eagles led most of the game.
Stever, Abby Brooks and Ashley Ford each had four points for Tyrone.
