The Tyrone girls tennis team had to travel for a pair of matches early in the week and both schools have some kind of cats as mascots. On Monday, the Lady Eagles fell to the Huntingdon Lady Bearcats, 7-0 and then in a makeup of a match originally scheduled for Sept. 5, that was rained out, after the long trip to Mill Hall, the Tyrone girls dropped a 7-0 decision to Central Mountain Lady Wildcats.
On Monday at Huntingdon, Kayla Patton was singled out by Tyrone tennis coach Mike Hample at the number five singles position. “Huntingdon was just too strong for us overall, but Kayla Patton was very competitive, battling against her opponent in what was the highlight of the day, before dropping 6-1, 6-2 sets.”
Against Central Mountain, the Lady Eagles number one doubles team of Chelsey Swayne and Caitlin Dillon fought a long, hard battle before falling 8-6.
“The highlight of the match against the Central Mountain girls was a real struggle in the number one doubles where Chelsey and Caitlin were really competitive in what was a match that could have gone either way,” said Hampton.
