Members of the Tyrone American Legion Post No. 281 announced that its “Soldiers for Soldiers” campaign, which raises money for children who have lost a parent during the war on terror, was a success.
According to Commander Fred Zanghi, Jr., Tyrone Legion Post No. 281 was the top post in the nation contributing to the Soldiers for Soldiers charity.
The Tyrone Legion collected empty ink jet cartridges and used cell phones to raise money for “American Legacy Scholarship” for the children of military personnel killed since September 11, 2001.
He said the Soldiers for Soldiers campaign conducted by the Tyrone American Legion has now ended.
Zanghi conveyed his thanks to the Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce and Mark Laird, the News Agency, WTRN, Tyrone Elks and especially The Daily Herald for all the publicity.
He noted coordination with the Tyrone post from the Bellwood UVA and Williamsburg and Roaring Spring Legions. Zanghi also thanked his committee members and the public for contributing inkjet cartridges and cell phones to this campaign.
