State police reported a burglary at the residence of an elderly couple on Friday at around 3 p.m. in Snyder Township.
Police said a Hispanic woman with medium length dark hair, approximately 30 years-old, came to the front door of the home of Jesse and Margaret Sessaman of RD 4, Tyrone.
She told Mrs. Sessaman she had been out walking and asked for a drink of water. Mrs. Sessaman allowed the woman to accompany her to the kitchen where she got the woman a drink.
The woman engaged Mrs. Sessaman in conversation until Mr. Sessaman came up from the basement. The woman then stepped in front of the basement door distracting him with conversation and impeding both victim’s view of the front door.
She left the house a short time later without the victim’s being suspicious or knowing anything was wrong.
Police said while the woman distracted the couple, a second person entered the house and went upstairs to the bedroom, went through a closet and broke into a small safe. Money was taken from the safe. The victims did not notice the crime until Saturday morning.
