Reynoldsville (May 6) For the second straight week, Don Henry of DuBois was solid as he took home his second straight win. Other drivers finding victory for the first time this season included Luke Hoffner of Turbotville, Bob Connor and Russ Walls of DuBois, and Craig Bainey of Osceola Mills.
Jim Parson of Bellwood finished fourth in the Brookville Wood Products limited late models race.
Bill McMillen and Alan Barnett led the field of Prontock Beer Distributing four-cylinders trackside for their 15 lap main event, which opened the racing. McMillen jumped to the early lead with Barnett close behind as the top two battled for the top spot Mike Anderson and Kyle Parson battled for third.
After a lap 6 restart, K. Parson looked to the low side of McMillen for the lead, but McMillen slammed the door and held the lead through the halfway mark. Henry worked his way from his 13th position starting spot and was challenging Parson for second. Henry worked his way by Parson and then got under McMillen for the lead on lap 12. From there it was smooth sailing as Henry picked up his second win of the season. Henry and Barnett won the heats.
Newcomer, Jeremy Ohl and Dave Shagla, Jr. led the field of Brookville Wood Products limited late models trackside for their 25-lap feature. Ohl led the first circuit, but looped is car around in turn two on the next lap, sending him to the rear of the field. Shagla inherited the lead with Chris Farrell keeping the pressure on. The top four of Shagla, Farrell, Bob McMillen, and Hoffner pulled away from the rest of the field with Chuck Kennedy, John Brady, Jim Parson and Loren Sallack trying to close the gap.
The red flag was displayed on lap 16 when John Chesnalavich, Jr. and Burton Fingado made hard contact in turn two. Chesnalavich was fine while Fingado complained of wrist pain. Hoffner started to make his move after a lap 18 caution as he got by McMillen for third, and slid under Farrell for second on lap 21. Hoffner flashed beside the leader Shagla forcing him to slide his car sideways in turn four collecting Farrell in the mishap. Hoffner inherited the lead and pulled away for the win while Ohl made a strong comeback as he passed McMillen late in the race to take second. Hoffner, Kennedy, and Sallack took the heat race wins.
The 20-lap street stock feature was next on the speedway with Connor and Joe Kot leading the way. Connor took the lead at the drop of the green with Levi Ardery, Brandon Connor, and Kot battling three wide for second. The field ran single file, but close until lap 8 when Fuzzy Fields looped his car around in turn 2. Connor maintained his lead at the midway with Ardery, B.Connor, Dom Surra, and Scott Alvetro keeping things close. Brandon Connor was strong as he made a clean pass of Ardery for second on lap 13. The races other caution flew on lap 16 when Kot and Tom Slack made contact in turn 4. Kot’s car received heavy damage and was towed to the pit area.
On the restart, Brandon Connor, which is Bob Connor’s nephew, kept the pressure on his uncle and looked for the pass on the outside. Bob Connor had his hands full with his nephew, but was able to hold on for the hard fought win. Fields and Alvetro copped the heats.
