Brandon Pruznak turned in a remarkable performance in the Mountain Athletic Conference Meet for the 10 schools in Divisions 3 and 4 on Monday at Bellwood. Pruznak won the 200 and 400 dashes, including a new record in the 200 with a personal best 22.85, and the long jump and finished second in the high jump for the B-A boys who breezed to the championship with 148 points over second place Penns Valley (107). Tyrone finished third in the boys standings with 95 points. For his efforts, Pruznak was voted the Outstanding Runner of the meet.
Ben Hatch won the 800 with a meet record 2:04.4, and was second to Pruznak in the 400, Adam Mueller won the 110 high hurdles and was fourth in the 300 IM hurdles, Tony DelGrosso was second in the discus, fourth in the shot put and fifth in the javelin, Brandon Humphreys was fourth in the 100 and triple jump, Dustin Harris was fourth in the javelin and fifth in the 200, Rickey Shawley was second in the pole vault and the 400 relay team was third and 1600 (Harris, Kyle Canfield, Eli Colyer and Hatch) and 3200 (Jeremy Tomchick, Dustin Pruznak, Colyer and Hatch) relays were both second, to provide depth for the Blue Devils.
“We had a great team effort,” explained Bellwood-Antis coach Nick Lovrich. “It was good to get points in a lot of events. Most teams don’t have the depth to do that. It’s what wins meets.”
Trey Brockett won the triple jump with a meet record 42-1 combined leap, and the 400 relay team of Johnny Franco, Brockett, Ethan Etters and Leonard Wilson was victorious for Tyrone.
Franco was second in the 100 and third in the 200, Brockett added a third in the long jump and fourth in the high jump, Adam Houck was third in the 1600 run and fourth in the 3200. The Shaffer brothers placed second and third in the javelin with senior Adam placing second and freshman John placing third. Chris Bradigan was third in the 400, and Philip Kreckel was third in the pole vault. The 3200 relay team was third.
The Tyrone girls got a tremendous performance from Emily Ingle, Liz Tepsic, Kayla Patton and Emily Lloyd, who captured a dozen places between the four of them.
Ingle won the 800 in 2:23.6, the 1600 in 5:09.9 and the 3200 in 11:45.3, all new meet records. Tepsic won the 100 IM hurdles in meet record time, and added victories in the long jump and triple jump and was second in the 300 low hurdles. Lloyd was third in both hurdles and sixth in the high jump. Patton, a freshman, was second in the 400 and fourth in both the 100 and 200. The Tyrone 1600 relay team was second and both the 400 and 3200 relays were sixth.
Despite the individual efforts of the foursome, the Penns Valley girls edged the Lady Eagles in the team race 114-11 1/3 points. Bald Eagle Area was third with 110, Southern Huntingdon fourth with 67 1/3 points and Bellwood-Antis and Philipsburg-Osceola were tied for fifth with 56 points.
Chelsea Wilson claimed the Lady Blue devils only victory in the high jump and was third in the 400. Ashley Mueller was second in the 100 IM hurdles and sixth in the 300 low hurdles. The 400 relay team was second, 1600 relay was third and 3200 relay was fifth. Lauren Leap tied with two other girls for second place in the high jump.
