Bellwood-Antis senior Tom Trexler carded a 39 on the front nine, then added an even par 36 on the back nine to lead the Blue Devils over rival Tyrone in the second meet of the short season.
Tyrone won the first meeting 356 to 362, and on Monday, Bellwood-Antis avenged the loss with a 350 to 353 victory this go around.
This match is a non conference event. On a high note for the losing team, sophomore James Russell recorded a hole-in-one on the 176 yard par 3 #16. James hit the shot with his 26 degree rescue, which is equivalent to a 5-iron.
“The loss is a tough one,” said coach Ferguson, “the Bellwood boys really deserve the win, we won the first go-around, and everything went our way. Today they did the job and put one in our loss column. I told our boys the past week that the cross town kids would be tough to beat, they have played pretty well most of the year, we are basically pretty even, I don’t think they believed me before the match, I think they do now! Coach Swanson has done a really nice job with his kids, he should be really proud of them, I’m sure he is, he as well as their kids deserve this win, my hats off to them.”
Scoring for Bellwood was as follows: Tom Trexler – 75, Andrew Newgard- 85, Kyle Shawley-92, Matt Beech-98, John Klein-106, and Brandon Osborne-114
For Tyrone- Jimmy Ferguson-77, James Russell-90, Eric Loose-93, Jordan Taylor- 93, Kyle Updyke-94, and Ronnie Garbinski – 107.
