Capturing eight of the 11 events, the Tyrone boys swim team recorded their fifth straight win of the season by defeating Ligonier Valley 91-55 at the Tyrone Area pool on Monday night. The Tyrone Lady Eagles fell to their Ligonier Valley opponents 114-63 to fall to 2-3.
Dustin Elder (200 freestyle and 500 freestyle) and Ethan Nulton (200 IM and 100 backstroke) led the way for the Tyrone boys with double victories in individual events. Matt Elder won the 100 butterfly and Chris Bradigan won the 100 freestyle for the Eagles. The Tyrone boys also won the 200 medley relay with Nulton, Zac Yeaton, Matt Elder and Bradigan each swimming a leg and the 200 freestyle relay with the team of D. Elder, Philip Kreckle, Bradigan and Nulton.
The Tyrone Lady Eagles got a double win from Kelly Pearson in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, but those were the Tyrone girls only wins for the night.
Leah Cherry was second in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Paige Black was second in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and Zoe Yeaton was second in the 100 butterfly.
All three relay teams came in second for Tyrone with Brittany Day, Kassie Markel, Salena Bradigan and Amy Liu in the 200 medley relay, and Yeaton, Cherry, Pearson and Black in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
