The Tyrone Junior High Boys basketball teams made the most of their long road trip to Lewistown on Monday, beating the Panthers on their home floor, and setting the stage for the dramatic win over the Panthers in the varsity tilt later in the evening.
The eighth grade team played first, and got five points in the opening quarter from Jordan Taylor on their way to a 7-2 lead. But then they turned on the jets and blitzed the Panthers 14-0 in the second quarter to take a 21-2 halftime lead.
Eric Desch had two 3-pointers and Andy Brokenshire two baskets to lead the charge.
The Eagles kept the pressure on in the third, going into the fourth quarter leading 33-7, and then coasted to a 35-9 win. Eric Desch had eight points to lead the way with seven each from Brokenshire, Taylor, and Shane Walker.
The win raised the eighth graders to a perfect 10-0 record.
