Coming off the Christmas holiday break, the Tyrone eighth and ninth grade boys basketball teams resumed their schedule by traveling to Huntingdon to take on the Bearcats.
Playing the ninth grade game first, it didn’t take the Eagles long to start to exert themselves.
Ben Ingle got things started with a 3-pointer, and was quickly followed by Nate Dane and Travis Peterman with two buckets a piece en route to a 13-6 first quarter lead.
Dane added three more scores in the second quarter along with 3-pointers from Peterman and John Shaffer to go in at halftime up 15 points, 27-12.
The third quarter got a little rough as the Bearcats tried to re-establish themselves, and they closed the gap to 12 points at 35-23.
But in the last quarter, the Eagles ran away from Huntingdon on seven points from guard Kyle Updyke, and a superb hustle effort by Wes Young to add 10 points.
Just missing having five players in double figures, the Tyrone ninth graders won 59-30, and raised their record to 7-1.
