Much like their male counterparts, the Tyrone Lady Eagles soccer team has endured some struggles in their first season as a scholastic program.
On Thursday however, the Tyrone girls got first-half goals from Sarah Halter and Tiffany Bradford for a 2-1 lead at halftime, then outscored the Grier School 4-1 in the second half to ensure their first victory of the year downing Grier .
Brit Hosband, Jill Mengel, Meg Walk and Christine Daugherty all added second-half goals for the Lady Eagles of head coach John Ashby.
“This is the first year for soccer at Tyrone Area High School,” explained coach Ashby. “Our girls have worked hard and have come a long way in a short period of time.”
The Tyrone girls soccer team will host Bald Eagle Area on Monday at 4 p.m., travel to Huntingdon on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. contest and then come back home to the Harry Sickler Athletic Complex on Thursday to play Lewistown in a 4 p.m. start.]
