The 74th Annual Sinking Valley Fair is scheduled for September 13-17, with a week of food, prizes and entertainment for everyone.
Admission to the event is free and parking is $2.
Individuals should note that all entries should be registered on Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Entrants available for early registration can call 684-show to make arrangements.
Things will kick off Tuesday with the FFA/4H tractor driving contest at 3 p.m. There will also be demonstrations at this time. At 6 p.m. there will be a horseshoe contest.
On Wednesday, the fair grounds will be closed to the public from m9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for judging. All dairy animals must be entered between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and group exhibits will be judged at 4 p.m.
The fairgrounds will open to the public at 2 p.m. A fairground horse race will be held at 5 p.m.
Then, Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., the Weimers provide a vesper service located on the stage. Also at 7 p.m. the dairy show will be held.
Thursday is Senior Citizen Day at the fair. Entertainment will be provided from noon to 1 p.m.
At 5 p.m. there will be horseshoe pitching and at 5:15 p.m. individuals can gather around for The Denny Huber Show. The sheep and swine show will begin at 7 p.m.
For individuals who would enjoy a night with “Patsy Cline”, two concerts will be held at 7 and 8:30 p.m.
On Friday the fairgrounds will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Registration for the talent contest will begin at 4 p.m. and the talent show is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Dan and Galla will provide the entertainment Friday night with a concert at 8 p.m.
Saturday brings a fun-filled day with a pet show contest beginning at 11 a.m. Games and contests for everyone will be held between 1 and 6 p.m. Also, at 1 p.m. the garden tractor pulling contest will be held.
The Servello Family will take the stage at 3:30 and 5 p.m.
A chicken barbecue will begin at 5 p.m.
Finally, the much anticipated auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. following the contest closing and awards presentation at 7 p.m.
Games and contests will be held for people of all ages between 5 and 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Also throughout the week there will be an angel food cake contest, apple pie and Hershey contest. The winners of these events will have the chance to enter their winning recipe in the Pennsylvania State Farm Show in Harrisburg in January where they are offering a $500 first place prize.
Participants will be able to pick up their exhibits and checks on Sunday, September 18 from noon to 3 p.m.
