The following Tyrone Area High School students have qualified for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region III Chorus Festival to be held in the Bald Eagle Area School District this weekend.
They are: sophomore, Josh Shaffer, bass I; juniors, Mary Raffetto, alto II and Jessica Templeton, alto I and senior, Alicia Rodriguez, soprano II.
The TAHS Director is Catherine J. Young.
PMEA Region III is comprised of over 50 area high schools from 11 counties. These students qualified for this choir festival due to their high placement at the District 6 Chorus festival where Mary Raffetto and Alicia Rodriguez both earned first place within their respective vocal sections.
If these students ranked within the top four chairs/places at Wednesday evening’s auditions they would also qualify for the PMEA All-State Chorus festival to be held in Hershey in April. In addition to auditions, the students will rehearse for three days under the direction of Dr. Lynn Drafal from the Pennsylvania State University School of Music.
A public concert will be presented on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited and tickets are available at the door.
Come share in the national celebration of “Music In Our Schools Month” by hearing this prestigious choir.
