Bellwood-Antis traveled to Southern Huntingdon on Saturday, Feb. 12, for the annual Tri-County junior High Tournament.
The Blue Devils came home with one champion, four third-place finishers, two fourths and a pair of fifth placers.
Troy Weyant claimed the Little Blue Devils lone individual title at 75, Tyler McCracken (80), Timmy Collier (105), Shane Noye (115) and Nick Alley (138) claimed third place medals, Kyle Davinsizer (85) and Kris Morder (250) placed fourth and Kyle Shawley (110) and Nick Stevens (165) placed fifth for the B-A junior high, which placed seventh among the 10 schools in the team race.
Northern Bedford ran away with the title with 267 points, followed by Glendale with 181.5, Everett with 159, Portage 143, Moshannon Valley 124, Juniata Valley 116, B-A 111, Southern Huntingdon 110, Claysburg-Kimmel 107, and Tussey Mountain 95.5.
Weyant only had to wrestle one match to claim his championship due to a lack of wrestlers at his weight class. Troy decisioned Nathan Jacoby of Moshannon Valley, 5-2 for the title.
Tyler McCracken lost 4-2 to Kevin Claycomb of Everett, in his only match to finish third in the three-man field at 80.
Timmy Collier pinned Josh Yaworski of Glendale, in 3:21 before dropping a close 7-5 decision to Tyler Claar of Claysburg-Kimmel, in the semifinals. Collier had pinned Claar in the dual meet. In the consolation bracket, Collier shut out two opponents to finish third. Timmy majored Scott Nolan of Portage, 9-0, and knocked off Andy Sollenberger of Northern Bedford, 4-0.
Shane Noye opened at 115 with a fall in 1:07, over Teddy Gardner of Juniata Valley, but lost a semifinal match to Cody Grace of Northern Bedford, 9-4. Shane rebounded with wins by 14-6 major decision over Levi Miller of Everett, and 11-5 decision over Taylor Swires of Portage.
The final third place went to Nick Alley, who lost his first match and came back the hard way with three straight wins in the consolation rounds to claim his third place medallion. Alley was pinned by Southern Huntingdon’s Eli Snyder in 2:23 to begin his day. Nick then decisioned Chad Wilson of Moshannon Valley, 3-0, Mario Bebber of Glendale, 8-6 and then needed overtime to outlast Kris Musselman of Tussey Mountain 6-3.
Davinsizer opened his tournament by pinning Shane Krinjeck of Portage, in 1:45, before getting pinned by eventual runnerup Bryant Sweitzer of Glendale in 0:45. In the consolation rounds, Kyle decisioned Seth Garver of Claysburg-Kimmel, 4-2 and then dropped a 6-0 match to Matt Reasy of Northern Bedford in the consi-final to settle for fourth place.
Kris Morder was involved in four falls, wining two and losing two for his fourth place finish. Morder pinned Bill Patterson of Everett in 4:05 to begin the tournament at 250, then was decked by eventual TCT champ Kevin Stager of Portage in the semifinals in 1:58. In the consi-semi, Kris pinned Northern Bedford’s Tanner Little in 2:45, but was pinned in the bout for third place in 0:58 by Nick Boonie of Juniata Valley.
Kyle Shawley lost by fall to Keith Dick of Northern Bedford, in 1:27 and by Dillon New of Portage, in 0:56. In the fifth-place final, Kyle decisioned Ben Myers of Claysburg-Kimmel, 7-2.
Caleb Stevens also finished fifth for the Blue Devils. Steven was also involved in falls in all four of his matches. Caleb was pinned by Northern Bedford’s Dustin Reighard in 0:55 in his opening match, then decked Matt Krause of Moshannon Valley. In the consolation semifinals Craig Bickford of Glendale, pinned Stevens in 2:42. Caleb came back to earn his fifth place finish with a fall over Ethan Clark of Everett, in 2:38.
Trey Mock (110), Dustin Pruznak (122) and T. J. Byers (130) all finished 0-2 in the tournament for the Blue Devils.
Bellwood-Antis had no wrestler at 90, 95, 145, 155, 185, or 210.
