The Tyrone Junior High boys basketball team traveled to Wingate Friday afternoon for their second meeting of the season with the Bald Eagle Eagles. Tyrone shut down the Bald Eagle attack, holding them to only four field goals the entire game, and earned their 12th straight win 39-24. The win raised their season record to 13-2.
The Golden Eagles got off to a good start in the first quarter 9-3 behind scoring from Josh Bradley, Brandon Gehret, and Jon Hampton. They increased their lead to 20-6 by halftime, holding Bald Eagle to no field goals in the first half. But Josh Bradley and Brandon Gehret both drew three personal fouls apiece before halftime, and had to sit the remainder of the quarter.
Tyrone didn’t let up in the third quarter, gaining a 9-6 advantage, and pushing the lead to 29-12. Matt Brooks, Jon Hampton, and Dustin Rudasill all contributed field goals. Tyrone’s bench got to see most of the playing time in the final quarter, with Gehret Ray and Jamar Standsbury each getting into the scoring column.
Jon Hampton led the Tyrone scorers with eight points, followed closely by seven each from Josh Bradley and Jon Harris. Tyrone’s next two games will be Monday, February 7, at Bellwood-Antis, and Tuesday, February 8, at home vs. Philipsburg.

In the earlier eighth-grade contest, the Tyrone Golden Eagles raised their record to 14-0 as they ran by Bald Eagle with 13-3 and 10-6 first and second quarters to take a 23-9 halftime lead, increased their margin to 39-16 by the end of the third, and won 43-23. Ethan Etters and Kyle Updyke each had nine points, followed by eight from Nate Dane.
