The Tyrone boys swimming team outclassed Ligonier Valley 59-30 for their seventh straight win on Tuesday at Ligonier.
Eric Nulton won two individual events, taking both the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle. Matt Elder won the 200 IM and Ethan Nulton took first in the 100 freestyle. The Nulton brothers, Brian Pearson and Zac Yeaton teamed up to win the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle relays to lead the Eagle swimmers.
Pearson was also second in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Ethan Nulton was second in the 200 freestyleYeaton second in the 100 breastroke, Matt Grimm second in the 200IM and Matt Elder second in the 500 freestyle.
Tyrone was able to pick up some important third place finishes as well using their depth to add some vital points to keep their perfect record (7-0) intact.
Brian Frey captured a third in the 200 freestyle. Chris Closson was third in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Matt grimm was third in the 100 butterfly. With the added placements, the Eagle boys were able to place two swimmers in seven separate events, plus taking first and second in the 400 freestle relay
Ligonier Valley won the girls meet 60-33, although Paige Black won the 50 freestyle and and 100 freestyle for the Lady Eagles. Kelly Pearson was second in the 200IMand 100 backstroke for Tyrone. Zoe Yeaton was second in the 100 butterfly and Leah Cherry was second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle.
Unlike their male counterparts, the lack of numbers really hurt the Lady Eagles, who were unable to place two swimmers in any of the 11 events.
