Tyrone Borough police are investigating a robbery that occurred at Community Pharmacy on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The police department has released a photo of the suspect, which was taken from the store security video camera.
The incident happened Monday around 1 p.m. The police were dispatched to the scene at 1:06 p.m. and arrived a couple of minutes later, according to a press release from Tyrone’s police chief, Joseph Beachem.
Witnesses said the suspect ran from the store and headed south on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The suspect was described as being a white man about five feet, ten inches with an average build and “scruffy” facial hair, probably a few days growth. His hair is described as dark.
The suspect was said to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gloves.
According to the press release, the suspect entered the store and proceeded directly to the pharmacy where he asked the pharmacist to do him a favor.
When the pharmacist asked how he could help him, the suspect told the pharmacist to give him Oxycontin and then said he had a gun and implied he would use it.
The pharmacist said there was a bulge in the front pocket of the sweatshirt where the suspect kept his hand, as if he were holding a firearm.
The pharmacist gave the suspect some Oxycontin and the robber left the store.
