Are you feeling a little bit of the winter time blues? Are you feeling like you can’t go outside because of the cold weather? If so, why not stay warm indoors and take some time to learn a new technology skill.
Tyrone Area School District technology coordinator, Vicki Aults, has offered a listing of classes to be offered at the school district.
The first class is Introduction to Access 2002, which will total 10 hours of class time and cost $30. This is a basic introductory class, which includes setting up databases, creating forms, queries and using wizards. It is scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays on Feb. 28, March 2, 7, 9 and 14.
The next class is Introduction to Excel 2002, which will total 10 hours of class time and cost $30. This is a basic introductory class, which includes setting up a spreadsheet, formatting cells, formulas, fill down, etc. The class is scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays on March 3, 8, 10, 15 and 17.
The class Computer Basics will total 10 hours of class time and cost $30. This is a basic introductory class, which includes using WindowsXP, creating, saving, and working with files, basic Internet use and will provide an introduction to common programs. The class is scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays on Feb. 28, March 2, 7, 9 and 14.
The class Intermediate Excel 2002 will total 10 hours and cost $30. This is a follow-up class for those who have taken Introduction to Excel 2002. Such topics include creating charts, using formulas and using the sort and filter features. The class is scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays on March 29, 31 April 5, 7 and 12.
The class Digital Photography and Image Manipulation will total eight hours of class time and cost $24. The focus will be on basic digital photography skills, manipulating digital photographs and using a scanner. The class is scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays on April 4, 6, 11 and 13.
There will also be two specialty classes available.
The first is Mail Merge Using MS Word. This class will total two hours at a cost of $8. The class will focus on how to use Word to create a form letter or mailing labels. It is described as being great for mailing lists. This class is from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.
The second specialty class is Making Sense of Computer Shopping, which will last for two hours at a cost of $8. This class will offer hints and guidelines to follow when purchasing a computer, printer, digital camera and other peripherals. The class is scheduled from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30.
