For many years, the congregation of First English Lutheran Church in Tyrone has had an active “card ministry” for homebound members of the church “family” as well as military personnel.
During this holiday season and throughout the coming year, they are hoping to expand the project to include military personnel stationed in the United States and around the world.
Cards individually signed by the congregation will be sent to servicemen and women both at Christmas time and several times throughout the year.
Persons who would like to place names and addresses on the card list are asked to get the information to First English Lutheran Church, 17 West 13th Street, Tyrone, PA, by mail, by dropping the information in the church mail slot or by calling 684-1430.
“We feel this would be a good way to let our military personnel know we support them and are grateful for the sacrifices they make on behalf of our nation,” explained card ministry chairperson Sandi Watson.
“We hope to get many addresses over the next several weeks.”
