The Tyrone girls volleyball team made the long trek to Lewistown on Wednesday evening and came back home with a victory.
The Lady Eagles won three straight games to improve their record to 4-10.
The Tyrone girls won three close contest to take the match, winning 25-21, 25-23 and 27-25.
Katie Whitby led the way for Tyrone with 10 service points and 13 assists. Teammates Ashley Roth had three digs and Emily Lloyd contributed four kills.
“We started with a little different lineup tonight,” said Tyrone coach Dave Eckberg, “ so we could get some of the younger girls some experience at the varsity level. We are always glad to get a win, but we still need to improve, cut down on the mistakes we are making. We talked about it following the match and the girls agreed, we could have made it easier on ourselves.
“We have three tough matches next week with Philipsburg, West Branch and Bellwood. We need to practice hard the next two days and be ready for them.”
The Lady Eagles junior varsity took two straight games from the Lady Panthers, for their second straight win after going through the season winless.
Tyrone will open the week on Monday with a trip up the mountain to Philipsburg-Osceola for a 6 p.m. start against the Lady Mounties.
