The Tyrone junior high football team traveled to Pleasant Valley to Bishop Guilfoyle High School on Thursday.
The Little Eagles fell behind 16-0 after three quarters and lost 22-8 to the Little Marauders.
Shane Emigh led the Golden Eagles with nine carries for 56 yards, Shayne Tate had 10 for 20 and Mark Mingle added 12 yards on four carries.
Bishop Guilfoyle scored in the opening quarter on a three-yard run by Johnny Franco, son of Tyrone varsity head coach John Franco. Johnny added the two-point run for an 8-0 BG lead early. In the second quarter BG quarterback Andy Lytle scored a one-yard TD and then tossed a pass to McDanell for the two-point PAT.
In the fourth quarter, Tyrone got on the scoreboard when Shane Emigh raced 46 yards for a touchdown and then rushed for the two-points as well to slice the Marauders margin to 16-8.
That was all the Orange and Black would score however, and Bishop Guilfoyle’s Devon Bennati iced the win with a one-yard TD to cap the scoring for the game.
“We did better against BG as opposed to our last couple games,” said Tyrone coach Dan Plummer. “We played a good Bishop Guilfoyle football team. We are still not where we need to be, this late in the season. We are going to keep trying. Our kids worked hard in the second half especially, and never gave up.”
Tyrone (3-5) will host the Penns Valley junior high on Thursday, Oct. 28 in their final game of the season. Game time for the ninth grade game is 5:30 p.m.
