At Tuesday’s regular meeting, Snyder Township supervisors reviewed plans for the Department of Environmental Protection grant through the Safe Water Grant Program for the Grazierville water project.
Bids for the project are scheduled to open July 21. Supervisors adopted a resolution to sign the DEP grant agreement for the Safe Water Grant program for the project.
Township engineer Bill Gohn of the EADS Group gave an update on the Dirt and Gravel grant project.
Work is on hold for the Beaston Road project until the township finds out if the bridge located near the road, where New Enterprise vehicles will have to travel, has a five-ton weight limit or not. New Enterprise has a 36-ton truck that must travel over the bridge.
The issue arose because the bridge is marked with a five-ton weight limit sign, but nobody can figure out when the sign was actually authorized to be placed on the bridge. Township solicitor Allen Gibboney said the sign issue is of secondary importance because the township first needs to find out the actual weight limit for the bridge before placing another weight-limit sign onto it.
Gohn also said the Blair County Conservation District denied the request for the paving of Gypsy Camp Hollow Road and part of Hoover’s Lane. The township may apply for the grant for these roads again next year.
In other business, supervisors:
• discussed the parking issue having to do with the Tyrone Area Middle School addition with Adam Long, Hayes Large architects;
• approved for secretary Viola Dysart to advertise for part-time office help to work about 20-25 hours a week at $7 an hour;
• adopted a resolution to sign an agreement for Northern Blair County Regional Sewer Authority to increase capacity with Tyrone Borough;
• approved for the Snyder Township tax collector to collect fees for tax certification and approved to set fees for tax certification and duplicates at $2, returned check fee at $5 and photocopies at 25 cents a copy and
• approved 2003 per capita tax exonerations received from the tax collector.
