Tyrone-Snyder Public Library is asking the public to plan on attending the first annual genealogy fair scheduled in the library community room tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
An informal gathering of area genealogy researchers will be presenting information from over 35 families of the Tyrone, Sinking Valley, Warriors Mark and Birmingham areas.
Everyone is encouraged to come and share or gather information for their own family trees. If anyone has been searching for information on trying to identify photographs or family members, this is the chance to get expert help.
After the program, feel free to continue research in the library’s local history and genealogy room, which is open during all library hours.
Also, the library board and staff would like to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers for all their hard work during the move into the new building.
It was a lengthy and arduous task: packing up items in the old building, transporting, unpacking and reshelving everything in the new building. If anyone hasn’t seen the new library facilities, stop in at the new location at 1000 Pennsylvania Avenue.
This year’s summer reading program theme is Discover New Trails at Your Library.
Registration will be June 26 from 1 to 5 p.m. with Ed Nale here to share his Native American storytelling, songs and games with the children.
The reading program will run from June 26 to August 7 with outings, games, and other events along with reading and prizes.
Also, an AARP driver safety program will be held in the library community room on July 26-27 from 6 to 10 p.m.
This classroom refresher course teaches defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws, rules of the road, and much more.
It also results in auto insurance discounts for those who complete and pass the classes. The cost of the program is $10 payable at the first session. Call the library to sign up for this program.
